Let's refresh:
knee/IT Band last fall
calf tear/shin splint this spring
And now as I am three weeks into the full swing of getting my mileage back up....(drumroll please)
Turf Toe!

I just thought my toe was jammed and needed an adjustment, went in to the sports dr this am and he said "you have turf toe". I think that sounds like a fungus.
It's just a ligament sprain. Mine isn't too bad - it wasn't hurting too much, just starting to be annoying. He sort of twisted the big toe around and out, which felt creepy but immediately I didn't feel that "stuck" feeling in the joint.
Since I run on my toes, I'm likely landing too hard on the big toe and not dispersing my weight across all toes. I asked if he thought I should try to transition more to a mid foot strike but he thought that would just cause my calf problems to come back.
At any rate, after he adjusted it, it feels better but now I am paranoid. Hoping a little form adjustment fixes it quickly. Going to ice it and elevate it tonight!

oh no. I'll be honest, I've never heard of that but it seriously sounds painful. glad it's feeling better and yes, I'd totally be paranoid too
Oh no! You know, you are a funny reader because I know this is annoying you now, but you made me smile when you wrote this sounded like a fungus. :) I have never heard of it either. How long does it take to recover?
Based on my googling, it sounds like it can take 3-4 weeks if it's a pretty bad strain. Mine is not nearly that serious, it was a little sore when I first started running Saturday morning but then improved. It's also stiff and sore first thing in the morning when I wake up and get to walking around. There is an elliptical in the gym that has a total body workout setting, and one of the moves is to lift heels and stride on your toes - I'm sure doing that last week didn't help matters :) Hoping for all soreness to be gone by the end of the week! Thanks ladies!
