A Non-Boring Gym Circuit - for kids!

Yesterday I took my 8 yr old to the gym. We are on a break from youth coaching - that is until next week when we start our indoor program. But an 8 yr old that is used to running 4 times a week, and suddenly slams on the breaks and is doing nothing? Well, he is bouncing off the walls and driving us nuts at home!

I needed to find a way to make the gym fun for him. Kids feel like things are fun when 1) they get to make choices, 2) there is variety, 3) they get to make choices.

So I came up with this little plan, told him we would do 4 rounds, and he could choose which exercises to do in each round.

Ideally we would go from one exercise to the next with no rest, but you know how it is with kids. We ended up completing 4 rounds in 55 minutes, and I burned a whopping 450 calories!

The best part is that this can be done at home, different exercises thrown in for little kids, it can be made more of a surprise by writing the exercises on cards and drawing at random. Use your imagination and get those kids (and parents!) moving.
