I think it is totally a parent's responsibility. We need to teach kids that food is valuable fuel for the body. Food should be satisfying by it serves a purpose. We need to teach them about health, and balance, and vitamins, and protein and minerals and good fats and why our bodies need these things.
My 8 yr old said the best thing the other day. As he was thinking about what he wanted for a snack, he said "I've already had a lot of grains today because I had crackers for a snack at school. I should have a fruit or yogurt".
Music to my ears!

I couldn't agree more! We are dealing with scary statistics for today's youth and it must be about balance and teaching them so they know for the future!
